Former Arkansas wide receiver Anthony Lucas may have seen his name leapfrogged in the Razorbacks record books in recent weeks, but he’s still doing just fine.
Lucas is the first-year football coach at Pulaski Academy in Little Rock. Friday night, he led the Bruins to the Class 5A championship as Pulaski Academy rolled White Hall, 51-19. The title is Pulaski Academy’s seventh in the last eight years and 10th overall.
The No. 2 receiver in Arkansas history in yards was named head coach at Pulaski Academy in May. He took over for Kevin Kelley who moved on to coach college football at Presbyterian. Lucas had served as Kelley’s wide receivers coach at PA since 2012.
“It really feels great,” Lucas said. “It’s still kind of shocking. I’m sure it’ll set in later on, and tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day. I’m just so happy for our kids.”
Four former Pulaski Academy players play for the Razorbacks this year in linebacker Hayden Henry, tight end Hudson Henry, offensive lineman Luke Jones and wide receiver John David White.
