Penn State wide receiver enters name into NCAA transfer portal

After initial reports last week that wide receiver Norval Black was no longer on the Penn State football roster ahead of the Outback Bowl, Black has confirmed he has entered the NCAA transfer portal. Black announced he had entered the transfer portal with a quick message on his Twitter account, confirming he will have two years of eligibility remaining with whatever school adds him to their roster.

“Thank you Coach Franklin and the rest of the Penn State staff for taking a chance with me,” Black said in his brief Twitter message. “I am officially in the transfer portal with 2 years of eligibility.”

Black joined the Penn State program in the Class of 2020 as a transfer from Lackawanna College. Despite being on the roster for the past two seasons, Black did not appear in a game.

There is no indication yet where Black intends to head next, but it would seem he will be moving on from Penn State.

The NCAA allows players to enter their names in a transfer portal database to have communication without other potential schools while evaluating transfer options. Players may at any time remove their name from the transfer portal and remain with their current program.

Black is the fifth player from Penn State to enter the transfer portal. Other players from Penn State currently in the transfer portal include safety Enzo Jennings, offensive guard Des Holmes, and quarterback Ta’Quan Roberson. Safety Tyler Rudolph has announced he is transferring to UMass.
