ESPN college football analyst and SEC football expert Paul Finebaum has made his pick for the national championship game between Georgia and Alabama.
Finebaum predicted on ESPN’s First Take that Alabama would defeat Georgia to win a second consecutive national championship. Finebaum cites Alabama’s edge in the coaching match-up as a big reason he’s rolling with the Crimson Tide. The ESPN college football analyst thinks the game will be closer than the SEC championship.
“I am not going against Nick Saban… I think Georgia may have the better team on paper but I don’t think a lot has changed.” Finebaum declared on First Take. “You mentioned (injured star Alabama wide receiver John) Metchie, other than that, I think it’s the same two teams and I think we’ll get, not a similar result in terms of a three- or four-touchdown win. But I think Alabama will win this game.”

It’s hard to disagree with Paul Finebaum. Nick Saban and No. 1 Alabama are dominating college football once again. The Crimson Tide have the game’s two top players in Heisman-winning quarterback Bryce Young and quarterback-disrupting defensive end Will Anderson.
Kirby Smart and Georgia football need a big game from quarterback Stetson Bennett and an improved effort from the defense to prove Finebaum and others wrong. The Dawgs have to win the turnover margin, have more consistent play in secondary, and do a better job of pressuring Bryce Young.
