Georgia and Alabama are early favorites to win the 2022 national championship one day after the Bulldogs topped the Tide for their first title since 1980, according to fresh odds released by Caesars’ Sportsbook. Both UGA and Alabama have 13/4 odds to win it all in the 2022 college football season.
The Bulldogs are expected to lose several key contributors with five players ranked among the top 50 in the CBS Sports NFL Draft Prospect Rankings, including projected first-rounders Nakobe Dean, Derion Kendrick and Jordan Davis. However, Georgia has recruited like crazy over the last several seasons and will field another talented squad.
Conversely, Alabama’s best players, quarterback Bryce Young and linebacker Will Anderson, will be back in 2022 after exploding onto the scene as sophomores. Both should quickly become favorites to win the Heisman Trophy after Young became the first ‘Bama signal-caller to win the award in 2021. The Tide had a lead in the fourth quarter of the title game despite losing both 1,000-yard receivers with injuries.
Ohio State trails close behind with 7-1 odds after failing to reach the Big Ten Championship Game for the first time since 2016, the year before Ryan Day arrived as offensive coordinator. Bookmakers believe Clemson will rebound from its frustrating 2021 and slotted the Tigers fourth at 12-1 odds. No other team has better than 25-1 odds.
