College Football Playoff Selection Committee adds four news members, NC State AD Boo Corrigan named as chair

The College Football Playoff management committee announced Tuesday that NC State athletic director Boo Corrigan will serve as chair of the CFP selection committee for the 2022 season. Corrigan, who served on the committee for the 2021 season, replaces Gary Barta after the Iowa AD served as chair for two seasons. 

“We are pleased that Boo will serve as chair,” CFP executive director Bill Hancock said. “He was an important member of the committee last year, and in this new role he will serve as a great manager inside the room and a wonderful spokesperson to the media and fans.”

Corrigan has been the athletic director at NC State since 2019. He previously served as the AD at Army from 2011-19, and has been the associate AD at Duke (2008-11), Notre Dame (2004-08) and Navy (2002-04).

“I thoroughly enjoyed my first year on the committee,” Corrigan said. “It was a privilege to serve alongside the other members. I’m honored to be asked to serve as committee chair and look forward to working with an outstanding group of individuals who are deeply committed to college football.”

The management committee also named Navy athletic director Chet Gladchuk, former head coach Jim Grobe (Ohio, Wake Forest, Baylor), Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel and longtime sportswriter Kelly Whiteside to the selection committee. They replace Barta, Paola Boivin, Charlie Cobb and Tyrone Willingham following the expiration of their terms after last season.
