Five-star defensive lineman Shemar Stewart is one of the top uncommitted prospects in the country, ranking as the No. 10 player overall and No. 3 defensive lineman in the 247Sports Composite rankings. On National Signing Day, the top-rated player in the state of Florida will make his decision at 1:30 p.m. ET live on CBS Sports HQ as he chooses between Georgia, Miami and Texas A&M. You can watch the announcement live in the video at the top of this page, on the CBS Sports App or via your connected device (Roku, Amazon Fire, Apple TV).
It’s not hard to understand why any program would love to have Stewart suiting up for their team; he has everything you could hope for in a defensive line prospect out of high school. He checks in at 6-6 and 272 pounds, but with that size comes plenty of speed, so he can beat his foe with brute force or just run by them.
Stewart’s decision is one of the more intriguing on Wednesday. During the Under Armour All-America Game, the five-star prospect committed to Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M. His journey took a bit of a turn, however, as Stewart decommitted from the Aggies to briefly re-open his commitment. Despite his decommitment, the 247Sports Crystal Ball still projects Stewart to land in College Station on National Signing Day.
Here’s what 247Sports’ southeast recruiting analyst Andrew Ivins has to say about Stewart, whom he compares to current Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Chris Jones.
Looks like a grown man out on the edge. Was mistaken by one…
