Penn State has been attacking the offensive line in the Class of 2023 recruiting cycle pretty hard, but it appears there is one coveted lineman trending away from the Nittany Lions.
Sam Pendleton, of North Carolina, recently included Penn State in his five, but the crystal ball predictions being made by some recruiting experts on 247Sports see another school as the favorite. The Clemson Tigers have been pegged as the crystal ball favorite, receiving 100% of the crystal ball picks submitted thus far. That includes a crystal ball pick made by Sean Fitz of Lions247 and Steve Lorenz, who covers Michigan for The Michigan Insider. With both recruiting reporters pretty in tune with the recruiting developments of Penn State and Michigan, respectively, picking Clemson, it seems pretty safe to say the Tigers have the upper hand in this recruiting battle.
Of course, these are just educated guesses at this point in time, and many things can happen in the recruiting process. And, ultimately, only Pendleton knows for sure exactly what he wants and what is best for him.
Pendleton has yet to take any official visits, so Penn State is still in the running along with Michigan, NC State, and Virginia Tech. We’ll be sure to monitor this recruiting process until we know for sure where Pendleton decides to commit.
