Texas A&M football recruiting: Five-star DL Lebbeus Overton picks Aggies over Georgia and Oregon

National Signing Day came and went almost two months ago, but Texas A&M’s historic 2022 class just received another boost. Lebbeus Overton, a five-star defensive tackle from Milton (Georgia) High School who re-classified from 2023 earlier this year, announced his commitment Friday to the Aggies over Georgia and Oregon. Overton is the eighth five-star player from 2022 to commit or sign with coach Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies, who hold the highest-ranked class in history, according 247Sports rankings. 

Overton is a 6-foot-4, 265-pound defensive tackle who is ranked No. 17 overall and the sixth-ranked defensive linemen in this cycle. Overton had 48 sacks and 96.5 tackles for loss, 229 total tackles and eight forced fumbles over the last three high school seasons, and he helped lead Milton to the 7A championship game as a senior in 2021. Overton’s father, Milton, was a star offensive lineman at Oklahoma (1991-94), an associate athletic director at Texas A&M (1999-09) and is the current athletic director at Kennesaw State.

Gabe Brooks, midlands region recruiting analyst for 247Sports, projected him as a future first-round draft pick and provided this scouting report:
