Luke Bennett, brother of Georgia QB Stetson Bennett, commits to Bulldogs as preferred walk-on

Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett IV became a household name across the country last year when he led the Bulldogs to a 33-18 win over Alabama in the College Football Playoff National Championship to give the program its first national title since 1980. Now another Bennett is on his way to Athens. 

Bennett’s younger brother, Luke Bennett, a 5-foot-11, 175-pound wide receiver from Pierce County (Georgia) High School, announced on Twitter that he will join coach Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs as a preferred walk-on.

“I just want to be somewhere where I can make an impact,” Luke Bennett told in Brunswick, Georgia.

Bennett isn’t rated by 247Sports, but he has had success during his three high school seasons. He had 33 catches for 638 yards and eight touchdowns for the Bears, including nine catches for 179 yards and three touchdowns as a senior in 2021.

“If he goes up there and works hard and sticks with it, he might be able to play someday,” Pierce County coach Ryan Herring told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “He’s got great linear speed. He puts up 4.5 for us all the time, 40-wise. I think it’ll just be a matter of getting used to that speed, because that’s another whole speed up there in Athens. He’ll have to keep working.”
