Florida’s scholarship offer was a game-changer in three-star wide receiver Tyree Patterson’s recruitment. He told Gators Online that the Gators lead for him after they offered him on Friday. 247Sports individual rankings have Patterson as a three-star recruit and as the 128th best wideout in the country.
“That is my top school right now,” Patterson said. “It’s just the environment and how they treated me when I went on my unofficial visit. It wasn’t just a regular unofficial visit; it felt like home with the way the coaches treated me. Everybody is cool.”
It’s not surprising that Florida soared to the top of his leaderboard on Friday. Patterson currently only holds only three scholarship offers from Liberty, UMass and North Texas. He’s definitely an under-the-radar prospect but had a solid junior season, reeling in 53 catches for 1,078 yards and 13 touchdowns.
He originally made it down to Florida in March and plans to visit the Swamp again for the Orange and Blue game.
Patterson said that the offer didn’t catch him off guard because a handful of coaches have been communicating with him since he last visited.
He hopes to make a decision sometime during his senior season.
