IrishCast Twitter account says Notre Dame should be able to ‘bully’ Ohio State

Ohio State and Notre Dame don’t get together very often on the football field, but when they do it’s always one of the most anticipated games of the year. Two blue bloods of college football with two of the most passionate fanbases in the country will bring out some spirited debate.

Separated by less than 300 miles, The Buckeyes and Irish have only met six times, with Ohio State winning the previous four contests. The last Notre Dame victory over the scarlet and gray? 1936.

Well, one Notre Dame fan who has a pretty big following on Twitter believes things will look a little different this time around. He posted on the platform his opinion of Ohio State, saying the defense looks just as bad as it did last season and that the Irish should be able to “bully” the OSU offensive line while topping the tweet off by sharing how “silly” the 13 point spread was in favor of the Buckeyes.

You would think that a “recruiting specialist” would know that a spring game scrimmage isn’t going to give a full picture of what a team can do. It’s entertaining for fans to see live-action for the first time in months, but there’s a whole other level that coaches are looking at. In fact, I’m not sure how such an assessment could be made by an opposing fan when half of the OSU spring game was two-hand touch.

The writer also seems to be very high on Irish quarterback Tyler Buchner.

Man, that’s some high praise. I agree, it will be interesting to see where Jim Knowles has this defense by week one of the season, but I have to think it will be a much-improved unit from last season. But to discount what was the No. 1 offense in the nation last year seems to be a stretch.

The Buckeyes and Irish will face off on September 3 when Notre Dame comes to town. And I have to believe whichever side comes out on top, these tweets are…
